Comments Thread For: Miguel Marriaga: Lomachenko Is Overlooking Me, In For Surprise

By Keith Idec - Miguel Marriaga admits he was surprised when that phone call came late in June. Marriaga wasn't expecting his promoter, Top Rank Inc., to get him a fight so soon after his loss to Oscar Valdez in a featherweight championship match two months earlier. And he definitely wasn't anticipating the opportunity they called about a shot at Vasyl Lomachenko, one of the top boxers, pound-for-pound, in the sport...

Loma is not the only one overlooking you, we're all overlooking you, because nobody wants to look at you! I hope Loma doesn't become one of those classic Top Rank guys, who are always talking about people like Garcia and Rigo, but always fighting Sosa and Marriaga! I still remember how Arum was blasting Floyd for facing Maidana, and how no one wanted to see such a mismatch, and then turned around and made Pacquiao vs. Algieri!

I like Marriaga, i think he's a decent fighter and i enjoy watching him. Albiet at 126.

      Different level to Loma though.

        Simple

Actually the fight with Valdez wasn't close. Valdez outclassed Marriaga in a definitive manner. Of course Marriaga made him work because Marriaga is a top contender, however this fight against Loma won't come near as competitive because Valdez doesn't have the same pop as Loma and if Marriaga gets touched in the same way (which he will) then its До Свидания-спокойной ночи.....

Marriaga is a perfect stepping stone.

Sucks Loma is wasting his time against a guy who just got soundly beaten at a lower weight. Crappy fight that Loma should win easily

Loma in a lose, lose situation. He painted himself into a corner. He started like a house on fire, if you forget about Salido, now he's lowering the ante?
