Comments Thread For: Victor Ortiz Warns Conor McGregor About "Mayweather's Elbows"

There has been a lot of conversation regarding the possibility that UFC superstar Conor McGregor may get frustrated during his upcoming boxing match with Floyd Mayweather - and then resort to illegal tactics, like an elbow to the face. McGregor is making his professional boxing debut on August 26, when he takes on Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

17 elbows in 3/4 rounds? Come on Ortiz! I understand the need to use a hyperbole to make a point, but you have to be careful how you use it or you end up being dismissed as a clown.

              "Keep fighting, Ortiz. Keep fighting."
Just like when Kovalev kept telling Weeks he was being fouled, over and over, Weeks just kept telling him, keep fighting, Kovalev, keep fighting.

And both those fights were in Vegas. Do I really need to spell it out? Here, I'll give everyone one more clue...

And judge Robert Hoyle scores the bout, 97-93, Maurice Hooker over Darleys Perez...

It may sound hyperbolic, but it's not. You don't realize watching live on TV, from the zoomed out camera angle the networks probably use on purpose in order to mask what's really happening so they can set the narrative they want with their commentary in favor of the cash cow fighter, rather than let you see what's really happening with your own eyes, but fighters like Floyd use tons of elbows very, very quickly that are hard to see watching at full speed. But when you slow it down you can see it. 4 elbows a round by Floyd is not hyperbolic at all. For instance Kovalev-Ward II looked relatively clean when you watch it live on TV, except for the low blows, but when you watch rounds 7 and 8 in slow motion, you see all types of **** Ward was doing. Headbutts to the d1ck, headbutts to the head, kidney shots, more low blows beyond the ones that were even obvious live, and so on.

There is a lot that goes on in fights that you only notice if you watch it live in the arena from close up, or if you slow the tape down. I know "slow motion" got a bad name with some people back when Pacquiao fans were claiming slow motion showed Floyd won, but more fans really should try it sometime, just for a round or two, just to see all the tricks they miss when they watch it live. Go watch round 7 and 8 of Kovalev-Ward II in 25% or 50% speed on youtube, and you will be amazed at all that goes on.
