Comments Thread For: Kell Brook Mulled Retirement, Hints at 'Big Changes' in Return

Brook says the welterweight limit of 147 nearly “killed him”
“I was thinking about whether to retire especially after the camp I’d had, it wasn’t the best. I had been ill three times during the run-up.
He has nobody to blame but himself. Virtually everyone was in unanimous agreement that he shouldn't have come back to WW after going up to MW. Hearn basically begged him not to fight at 147. He should have taken a year or so after the beating he got from Golovkin, and come back at 154.

The same exact advice applies today. He needs to take significant time off and come back at 154. He was talking about coming back in 2017.. he's double the idiot if he does that.

Should retire, he is an embarrassment. Khan might be a delusional big mouth with a glass jaw but aint least he aint a quitter.

He should take a couple easy fights to work his way back in. Somebody like Rick Godding for his first fight back

His body needs to be at 154 but his power needs to be at 147. He hits clean, snappy and fairly fast with that right, with excellent timing too, but still he doesn't really trouble elite welters with his power so he won't put a dent in any decent 154's. Spence walked through his best shots. To be fair, he landed enough clean shots early on that if he was more heavy handed he could have caused Spence major problems.

I think the truth is he should have moved up years ago when he could have naturally developed into the weight.

Too little too late and a mismanaged career after the Porter fight, which in itself came too late.
