Comments Thread For: Geale: Mayweather-McGregor Hype is 10 Times Better Than Fight
Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Conor McGregor are dominating headlines but do not expect former world middleweight champion Daniel Geale to watch the blockbuster showdown next month.
Geale may be right in his assessment, but I find it rich that folks are choosing this event as the moment to make their "stand on principle".
In case folks forgot, we did just have the hype that was Alvarez vs Chavez Jr, in the "Battle for Mexico", when the only win that Chavez Jr seemed focused on was showing the world that he could make weight for the fight.
No one cried **** about that fight; all the boxing media even acknowledged from that event was the announcement of Alvarez-Golovkin, as if the announcement was the actual main event that folks paid the PPV price for.
Mayweather-McGregor isn't a great fight, but McGregor seems to have some striking ability with his hands, and Floyd/Father Time are likely still doing battle.
The butt-hurt and jealousy that people have in the fight community surrounding this fight is disgusting. Let me say first, I have pretty much no interest in this fight. That said, I'm not mad at people that are. And I'm certainly not mad at Floyd and Connor for giving the public what they want. And I'm certainly not mad at them for making money. It's not disrespectful to the sport. It's giving the masses what they want. Geale sounds like a jealous b1tch. STFU and don't watch if you're not interested.
The hype for a big event fight like this always outshines the fight itself. Hell the last 2 year or so of Canelo's career with the hype of him being the biggest name in the sport now have outshined his bs fights/opponents.
Would Somebody Please Get This Monkey Off My Back?
Waaaait a minute.... Conor, is that you??
Dude, you need to work on your shoulders and arms. They are tiny. In fact, you look a bit ill. Decent chest and slim waist, granted. But no muscle development and conditioning where it counts. You'll gas after 4 rounds.
"It's definitely disrespectful to the sport. It takes the sport out of it and turns it into a circus," he continued.
Daniel Geale is correct here and I've changed my mind on this spectacle, about it hurting boxing. It will hurt and damage the sport of boxing and it's image overall. Idk how the commission agreed to sanction this nonsense.
