Comments Thread For: Barrera: Joe Smith is Very Powerful, But He Doesn't Have a Chin!

Sullivan Barrera knows Joe Smith Jr. can punch. The light heavyweight contender is not so sure Smith can take a punch nearly as well as he delivers one. Barrera considers Smith's chin a weakness and intends to exploit it when they fight Saturday night in Inglewood, California. Their 12-round, 175-pound bout will be part of an HBO "Boxing After Dark" tripleheader from The Forum.

Joe Smith knocking B-Hop out of the ring is still hilarious.

When Joe knocked out Hopkins that was the cream-of-the-crop for me he was wearing needed to be out of the ring and on the floor and his mouth shut... Smith take some shots of course but to me more important is he needs to work more on his fundamentals he still is lacking...

huh? what is sully B talking about here, that's the ONE thing we don't know about the Construction worker...his chin.
Very interesting to see how it hold's up, Sully can punch and more importantly is FAR more skilled than smith.

Both Barrera and Smith have faced good opponents before ie Ward and Hopkins. I think Barrera has to use his boxing skills to win by decision, otherwise Smith will knock him out.

Eddie Caminero destroyed Joe Smith's jaw & kept him out of boxing for a year. His chin isn't great & he's getting dropped if not KO'd in this fight I think.

I dig Smith & will be rooting for him, he's my Indongo of 175 right now, but his record is complete bs & I think he benefited from fighting Bhop & Fonfara at the right times in their career more than anything else.

Hope I'm wrong, don't think I will be.

I'll be curious how Smith vs Seanie goes down in both of their next fights after they both lose this weekend.

That's like saying Berchelt has a weak chin and will be KO'd by Muira this weekend because he got stopped early on in his career too.

Jack would get stopped by anyone and everyone because he got stopped in 20 seconds by a journeyman.

It's not really relevant at that stage in their respected careers, it's not like you've seen the fight either so how can you even pass judgement on it? do we even know if Smith was dropped?

Agreed. Joe Smith would lose this by a KO. Barrera is on a higher level
