Comments Thread For: McGuigan: Josh Taylor vs. Ricky Burns Winner Can Fight For Title

Josh Taylor and his handlers want an all-Scottish showdown with Ricky Burns. The undefeated Taylor called out Burns following his impressive seventh-round stoppage of previously unbeaten British prospect Ohara Davies on Saturday night at Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. The 26-year-old Taylor (10-0, 9 KOs) is a lot less experienced than the 34-year-old Burns (41-6-1, 14 KOs), a former lightweight and junior welterweight world champion.

Isn't Burns lined up or being lined up for a fight with Crolla? Is there as much money in a Taylor fight yet? Can't blame Burns for going for a Crolla fight if thats the better money fight for him, which I don't know if its correct or not, but I feel like Taylor isn't THAT popular yet.

Fair play to them trying to set that up doe after the impressive performance over Ohara cuz Burns would be a nice scalp for him & it should be an attainable scalp with how good he looked last time out & Burns' career being on the downside. If I was them I'd try to get a fight or two in while calling out the winner of Crolla vs Burns if they can't get Burns now.

Randomly more guys need to be moved like so many of this era's guys like Taylor. If we don't know if you can reallllllllly fight or not at a top 30ish level 20 fights into a guys career I'd say your team is purposely doing that for a reason that may or may not include you can't fight at that level or your team is wasting your f#cking time.

Get in this sport, find out if you can hang or not, if you can get that money & gtfo or just gtfo if you can't hang. Thats how sh^t should work much more often then it does. This isn't a sport to dabble in or stick around too long in.

Taylor looked great against Davies I admit that but they need to chill with this "he's ready to fight for a world title" talk. Crawford would tear that ass apart

Taylor would only be ready for a world title if it was Burns who held that title. A little unfair to say he's not in the same league as Crawford given Crawford is P4P level and has been around a lot longer, but Taylor's on the right path. Taylor beats Burns hands down on every level. Burns is tough and the fight would go the 12 but Taylor looks quality and Burns....... doesn't!!!
