  • Comments Thread For: Roach on Pacquiao's Options: Retirement or Rematch With Horn

Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach would like to see Manny Pacquiao retire from the sport. But if the 38-year-old veteran continues to fight, then the only fight Roach would like the boxer to even consider is a rematch with Jeff Horn. Last weekend, before a crowd of over 51,000 at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Horn secured a twelve round unanimous decision over Pacquiao in a shocking upset to capture the WBO welterweight championship.

Pacquiao would be a serious underdog with Crawford now

        Roach

To fight (Horn) in a rematch, or possibly retire, or go on to bigger and better guys. Those are his options.”

I have lost all respect for Roach. Arum and Roach are no different.

Just retire Manny. You are 38 years old.

Pac shouldn't be thinking of any other fight other than the rematch, then retirement. It will be the biggest fight he could take and come out on top. Any other big fight will do nothing but embarrass him on his way out

Manny wanted an easy fight on PPV for big money both lost

Paq wanted an easy fight a sure win on PPV for many Millions. Didn't happen that way. Now go away Paq and leave.

Yes, he should fight Horn again. If Pac and his team's excuses are legitimate then he should win. I think Horn will beat him more convincingly in a rematch but Manny is always dangerous, so it's not a forgone conclusion.

Have some dignity! Stop embarrassing yourself. Pacquiao is a living legend, coming to the end of his career. He's fought a who's-who of great fighters. Only a moron would say he's ducking the new generation, who are only starting to take over because Floyd & Manny are on the way out. Not every Joe Louis has to get beaten-down by a Rocky Marciano before he finally retires. You probably would have said that Ali was ducking Trevor Berbick if they had not fought in Ali's sad last match. Show some respect where it's due. I don't even like Pacquiao, but he deserves that respect.
He showed his age, and he had enough trouble with Horn.
Only a complete sadist would want to see him jump in against Thurman, Spence, or Crawford next. Probably the same type of person who has wet dreams about Floyd fighting novice Conor McGregor.
