Comments Thread For: Hopkins Explains Why Canelo Will Win, Expose Golovkin's Flaws

Former two division champion Bernard Hopkins is very confident that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (49-1-1, 34 KOs) will overcome the power of IBF, IBO, WBC, WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs). The fight is scheduled for Mexican Independence Day weekend, September 16th, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

B-Hop could very well be right. Golovkin fans need to accept that this is not a sure thing and this one might not be going your way. With that being said Hopkins is not very convincing here. It sounds more like he's explaining why Canelo would beat David Lemieux than Golovkin.

I am a little surprised by Hopkins comments cause i know that he is a real student of the game, but i guess as Canelos promoter he has to say things like this and back his fighter. GGG is a well schooled fighter with a great jab, great balance when he punches and really good footwork.

Canelo has faster hands but are very flatfooted when he punches and very open for counters after he punches. I really dont think Canelo has the power to get GGGs respect and i also dont think that canelo is strong enough to push GGG around. The only way i see Canelo winning is by outboxing GGG with alot of movement which Canelo in my opinion is not able to do.

This will be a very competitive fight as long as it last but i see GGG stopping Canelo in the later rounds or cruise to a UD while Canelo tries to survive in the later rounds. Also, i dont think Canelo have the stamina for 12 hard fought rounds since he always fades late.

Canelo will not be stalking a glass jawed welterweight .He will be the one being stalked and he doesn't look great in reverse. It may well be a classic as I have never seen either of them badly hurt.Canelo will find himself shipping heavy punchers from the off .Punchers much harder than ever before .It's Canelo i see on the deck.
