IBF, WBA, WBO light heavyweight champion Andre Ward (32-0, 16 KOs) says he is not going to allow the critics to take away his recent rematch win over Sergey Kovalev (30-2, 26 KOs). In their first fight last November at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Ward got off the floor in the second round to win a close twelve round decision over Kovalev to capture the three titles. Kov could conti nUE he just felt unfair being hit low constantly so had to make a meal of it. BH did. Ward is fantasizing the punches were hurting kov more than he is saying.

This just shows how bad Ward is at capturing the publics & boxing fans imagination. If I was Ward's PR guy I'm telling him to say "yea I wish the ref woulda kept it going so I coulda seen this mofo KO'd or quit on the stool between rounds". I wouldn't have him crying about people trying to take something away from him, I'd have him b^tch about the ref taking something away from him, a dominant & even more conclusive W.

How you spin something is a nuance Ward never acquired or I'd even argue the mindset you actually have that understands what just happened to you isn't something Ward has. He's ready made to play the victim.

Even if you are happy to just have won, you can't really be the guy acting like that in public & saying it to the media. Maybe after you are retired, but as a active fighter you can't have an appearance of weakness like that & like it or not, being glad a fight is over is a weak stance to most fans.

Whatever doe respect to Ward, he's a talented guy & despite his critics always trying to dismiss him he keeps them digging for excuses on why he didn't lose once again. And thats probably the best goal to achieve as a guy with a solid amount of hater fans.

You can't be happy with the stoppage. I'm sure you'd rather see being carted off on stretcher! But really just relieved ward won more than anything. Just like ward was happy to win, not realising the aftermath that was ahead which is selfish

That is really how the fight went, low blows before the right. Great right, then border line and low blows to finish. Kovalez was a beaten man at the stoppage, he was being fouled, Weeks wasn't protecting him and he knew the judges were against him. Ward may very well be a nice guy but he's no choir boy. Oakland don't raise choir boys they beat them until they sing in a higher key.
