Comments Thread For: Loeffler: Canelo-GGG, Mayweather-McGregor Both Will Do Well

NEW YORK Gennady Golovkin's promoter is confident two pay-per-view boxing events can succeed within a three-week span late this summer. Tom Loeffler, managing director for K2 Promotions, acknowledged that having the Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Conor McGregor fight take place August 26 in Las Vegas, just three weeks before Canelo Alvarez-Golovkin, "isn't ideal." Loeffler still thinks that the Alvarez-Golovkin fight will do huge business both at the gate and on pay-per-view September 16 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

haymon does business with literally everyone also! He does business with eddie hearn, tom, dibella, tgb, shaefer, even golden boy with the chavez and khan fights and top rank with molina and diaz fights! Joshua and kell brook both have fought multiple haymon fighters as well but when it comes to haymon and gb and haymon and tr both parties are more selective when they work with each other! HBO made their biggest mistake when they stopped working with haymon i think! now they might have to come back to haymon since arum is take most of his guys to espn for the next 2 years at least

I disagree with the thought that one will not effect the other.

Most people won't want to shell out $ for two PPV fights weeks apart. I want GGG - Canelo to do better, because it's the better fight and the buys should reflect that, but we all know that casuals are the life blood of the sport and I worry that since McGregor - Mayweather is first, they'll just go for that one.

Especially if McGregor - Mayweather is a stinker, which it probably will be, most people won't want to buy another fight for awhile because it will leave a bad taste in peoples mouths.

The way I see it, McGregor - Mayweather does big numbers, because it comes first. The fight sucks ass, because lets face it, it's going to suck ass. Millions will be disappointed that they paid money for it. GGG - Canelo is a great fight, possibly FOTY, but does poorly in the numbers department because of Mayweather - McGregor.
