Comments Thread For: Andre Ward: No Third Fight Against Kovalev; Doesn't Make Sense

LAS VEGAS Andre Ward doesn't see any reason to fight Sergey Kovalev a third time, certainly not next. Whatever you think of Ward's wins against Kovalev, he has beaten the former light heavyweight champion by unanimous decision and technical knockout in their two fights over the past seven months. That's more than enough proof for Ward to want to move on to another opponent whenever the IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion decides to return to the ring.

Damn, I really wanted to see Ward beat him down again. Sucks. I wonder who's next.

He's right. Doesn't make sense at this point.

Tony Weeks robbed Ward and the fans of the chance of seeing Kovalev laid out on his back.

But I agree, no 3rd fight. Kathy Duva said no 3rd fight if Kovalev would've won.

Ward needs to fight Stevenson and become undisputed. No point in going to cruiserweight unless he enters world boxing super series or fights Usyk (both unlikely) and obviously he would get destroyed at heavyweight. So Stevenson is best option.

No need for this fight a third time. It Is pretty clear and obvious at this point that Kovalev Isn't beating Ward.

No need for the 3rd fight unless Sergey beats Adonis in the meantime and unification means something to Ward.

Fight Adonis next, Andre. Unify all the belts.

Kovalev can go fight Beterbiev or something.

Yep. Wish we could have seen Kovalev out on the canvass.. Ah well, it's easy to visualize..
