Full marks to super middleweight Mario Veit for a career best performance in beating stablemate Juergen Brahmer and winning the WBC Intīl title last night in Munich. Veit was at one time a well protected dull boxer, who was built into a 30-0 record before being wasted by Joe Calzaghe in 1.57 of the very first round in 01. It took a year and a change of trainer from Torsten Schmitz to Fritz Sdunek before a "new" fighter emerged when Mario took apart Malik Dziarra late 02. He then won the WBO interim title but was again beaten by Joe Calzaghe last year but again picked up the pieces and scored a big upset yesterday. It was a fight he wasnīt supposed to win but he did so in style surviving a first round knockdown and a nasty cut in the later rounds. [details]

Personally I suspect that Klitchko would have less trouble with any of the champions than either of these two hot up-and-comers.
I know that Don King is shielding valuev for all he's worth but how about Liakovich? I know Rahman's fighting Maskaev soon. Hopefully someone (I suspect Wlad) will chase and collect all the titles.
Having one champion would also unify the top ten rankings somewhat so that fewer boxers would be able to claim to be an issue in the top tiers if they hadn't earned a strong reputation.
I like Timor over Brock but don't think he's ready for Wlad yet.

Originally posted by Parodybut that was early in his career, while was way ahead on points, just like Purrity stopped Wlad early in his career while Wlad was ahead on points, Sergui has improved, and has beaten Dominick Guinn and Lamon Brewster since then, Brewster beat Wlad, and Sergui beat Brewster, this would be an interesting fight and I bet you more people would rather see it. + WBO + IBF + IBO Heavyweight titles on the line, dont you think it will be exciting? I think Wlad can win it, but why not rather unify the titles (main ones which are WBC, WBO, WBA. Rahman and Valuev have a fight, but Sergui is free, and Wlad said he will be fighting in October next, which gives both men enough time...
