  • Comments Thread For: Kathy Duva: No Rematch Clause in Contracts for Ward-Kovalev 2

Sergey Kovalev could at least take solace after his controversial loss to Andre Ward in knowing that if Ward wanted to fight again, he had to face Kovalev in his next bout. There was an immediate rematch clause in the contracts they signed in the fall of 2015 for their light heavyweight championship showdown. Whether Ward or Kovalev lost their fight November 19, the loser could exercise his right to an immediate rematch.

... "Ward is a slight favorite over Kovalev (-160/+130)"... and what was the first time?...

If Kovalev can walk the tight rope of having to outwork and dominate Ward the entire fight to get a decision, with all the pressure on him to clearly win every round, without tiring out from having to do more, and win the second fight, Main Events would be insane to put him on that tight rope a third time and expect a good result. Ward is the favorite for a reason. Everything is stacked against Kovalev, just like it will be if they fight a third time. Kovalev needs to win decisively, say it's 2-0 in his mind and finished, and send Ward on his way into irrelevance or retirement. Let's see how many fans still want to watch Ward cheat all night once his undefeated record is (officially) gone and the lie of him being an all time great boxer is exposed.

If Kovalev beats Ward, I'd like to see him fight Stevenson, GGG, Badou Jack, Callum Smith and Gilberto Ramirez once they move up, Gvozdyk if they weren't friends but they are, maybe Bivol, and Artur Beterbiev. Then if he's still in one piece, move to cruiserweight.

Tell Commie Kovalev to go fight in Russia for a few rubles and beets

Kovalev is not welcome in America and Kovie should go fight in Russia or one of those broke Stan countries. America could careless about the atheist commie Kovalev and his russian Bullcrap and hate. Andre Ward is American and has the support of America over the low commie Kovalev.

Eh I think two is enough anyway. If this fight is also inconclusive then we'll just have to accept that there's nothing separating the two of them. Hopefully then the loser can fight for Stevenson's WBC while the winner defends their IBF from Beterbiev

                    Lmao

Ward is gonna win the 2nd fight as well and the Eastern Euro fanboys are gonna be screaming for a 3rd fight cause "Kovalev won the first." Ward won't give it to him so they will say Ward ducked.
