  • Comments Thread For: Terry Flanagan vs. Felix Verdejo Deal is Very Close, Says WBO Prez

According to World Boxing Organization President Francisco 'Paco' Valcarcel, his organization was advised that a deal is very close for Terry 'Turbo' Flanagan to defend his WBO lightweight title against Felix 'Diamante' Verdejo. Verdejo is the mandatory challenger to Flanagan's world title. Promoters Bob Arum of Top Rank [for Verdejo] and Frank Warren [for Flanagan] are working out the terms for a date in September.

      Should be a good fight!

Verdejo has regressed a lot but I believe it's only due to him not fighting someone of real quality, some fighters fight down to their oppositions skill level and I believe Felix is one of them!

Also the fact I think he has learned everything he needs with his current coach and needs a pro coach, I heard he has switched with Abel Sanchez now!

Smart move cuz even though I'm no fan of Loudmouth Sanchez I believe his approach may be what Verdejo needs!

A coach who will push him offensively and bring out his offensive capabilities to the max which is what Verdejo needs!

I've really gotta wonder if team Flanagan are running scared of a unification fight with Robert Easter Jnr!

Verdejo needs a manager that can coax Flanagan out of his shell. The problem is, Verdejo has no moral ground to complain, he only knows his adoring fans. With no road warrior in the fight, I have to go with the home town hero.

While I think Flanagan is the weakest Champion at 135...I have my doubts if Verdejo is ready and I'm not talking about the typical "He Haven't Fought Anybody" more so his style in the ring, his Defense still needs a lot of work. He could probably win this one on talent alone but vs Flanagan in his Back Yard he will need a KO
