Comments Thread For: Gary Russell Jr: If No Big Fight at 126, I'm Moving Up To 130

WBC featherweight champion Gary Russell Jr. (28-1, 17 KOs) is a man on a mission - hungry for a big fight. If Russell is unable to secure a significant fight at 126-pounds, then he plans to move up to super featherweight. Russell is managed by Al Haymon - who also manages the majority of the big names at the weight - including WBA champion Leo Santa Cruz, Abner Mares, Carl Frampton, IBF champion Lee Selby, Jesus Cuellar and Oscar Escandon.

Russell, you need to stay away from Mr. Lomachenko cause he'll definitely beat your ass again!

Notice Gary said he wants to meet Loma at the end of his career. I think he means after he stops fighting, he will shake his hand, and thank him for not doing it again! Lmao

Why has this writer failed to Mention Oscar Valdez name? The WBO champ who has come off an impressive victory in his last fight,, if little Escandon landed punches like that on Russell Jr, then Valdez will take him into deep Waters and take him out.

Russell has way too much unfinished business and way too much to prove at featherweight before he ever decides to move up

Russell is retired until next year. I wanted to see Leo tax his ass.

If he can't get LSC, Mares, or Frampton next (which is totally unacceptable), I think he should go up to 130 and fight Geronta Davis @ 130! That fight should do well in Oxon Hill, MD! It would be a big step up for Tank, but it would be a great test before eventually facing Lomachenko. It would also be a good gauge for GRJ to see how he handles the higher weight.

Davis will steamroll Russell Jr, that's a bad chess move for his career, he has to prove himself against the Champions at featherweight first.
