Vladimir Hryunov, manager of the mandatory challenger to the "regular" World Boxing Association heavyweight title - Alexander Ustinov of Russia - says the WBA is expected to issue an order this week - to resolve the confusion with the "regular" belt. The sanctioning body had previously ordered Shannon Briggs and Fres Oquendo to square off for the vacant WBA "regular" belt - with the winner having to make an immediate mandatory defense against Ustinov.

ortiz already vacated the interim title to avoid ustinov. ortiz is guaranteed a shot at the super title.

not sure why he'd agree to fight oquendo for the world title only to then be stuck facing ustinov, the guy he dropped the interim title to avoid.

I think this subject started to get annoying so, we always talk the same things. All cheaters wasting our time. Firstly Lucas Browne and Shannon Briggs now. Ustinov's manager is very smart cuz he knows that his fighter can only reach this regular title. All of them too old and C level fighter.

Ortiz should not spend time for regular title so, this should not be his main target. He need more activity and fight against real fighters like Deontay, Joshua, Wladimir, Parker etc...

Oquendo is so easy work for Ortiz so, he has not fought since 2014. I think this fight will be not interested.

Understood. Now with Josh-Klits 11 WBA approved in the Fall, what are Ortiz option ? Ustinov ? The WBA will need to act quickly to eliminate its regular belt or they will catch forseable future problems.
