  • Comments Thread For: Davies is Very Dangerous Opponent For Taylor, Says McGuigan

Josh Taylor's abilities will be tested to their limits by Ohara Davies at Braehead Arena on July 8, according to the Scot's manager Barry McGuigan. The Irishman may not have a lot of time for the Londoner after his "sheepish" performance at a Glasgow press conference last week. However, McGuigan accepts that Taylor will need to be at his best if he is to extend his unbeaten record to double figures.

Taylor and his team are really rubbing me the wrong way for this fight. It's like because Davis is black they want him to act a certain way and because he's not he's "not selling the fight" I can't wait to see the looks on their faces when Ohara knocks him out cold.

I dont think it has anything to do with race, Davies usually talks alot of ****, its one of the reasons this fight got put together but he's went very quiet since it was announced. The only way i can see Davies knocking him out is if the home crowd gets to Taylor and he starts trying to have a shoot out, if he sticks to his boxing and keeps composed he takes it on points all day!!

Its not because he's black I dont think mate. The Mcguigans are total control freaks. They want everyone to dance to their tune. Remember the Frampton Quigg fight Barry started trying to order security around? I'm glad he ain't a sky pundit anymore coz he don't let anyone get a word in.

Taylor hasn't got the style to beat Ohara over 12. If it goes to points Davies wins by default. He's a stiff come forward southpaw. He doesn't give you different angles like Ohara does. Watch Taylor eat the jab to the body all fight & watch Davies circle to the right controlling him with the hook.

Josh Taylor has showed me absolutely nothing special in the pro ranks.

The action's really hot in the UK @ 140Lb right now & the winner of this one deserves a 100% challenge for Tyrone Nurse's British title. For me, however, Jack Cattrell is #1 right now in the UK & needs to get in the mix quick smart!

Idk about the racial stuff. I think there is an Ohara Davis they & many fans expect & he was not that guy at the presser. Oddly I thought Ohara played his hand perfectly doe. He had Josh trying to be something he wasn't & Barry damn near openly begging Ohara to "do something" lol. Ohara "won" the presser for sure by doing or saying nothing unsightly as crazy as that might sound to those who didn't watch it or don't know sh^t about these two guys.

And I did theorize I wouldn't be surprised if Hearn paid Ohara 50k or something to not hype this fight all that much since it is a competitor at the end of the day. Plus I assume Ohara's pay is locked in at this point & this isn't one of those weird $5 PPV's in the UK & Ohara gets a piece of that or something. If thats the case, as I believe it to be, why would you hype your promoters competitors fight once you're insured your pay (outside of Barry just getting super pissed & canceling the card or something)?

Hearn did state in an interview that oharas behaviour was smart because it pissed off ghe mcguigans even more. What you want to do at a presser is get under your opponents skin and that's what he done.

                  Exactly.

I mean I can understand how Barry is upset doe in his defense. You pay for the guy talking sh^t you want the guy talking sh^t at your presser lol. He's trying to sell a fight after all.

Ohara & Josh gotta worry about winning a fight doe so fair play to both of them whatever they feel they need to do to get to that place as thats all they should be concerned with.
