NEW YORK Stephen Espinoza expected Showtime to televise separate bouts featuring Adrien Broner and Mikey Garcia over the summer. The Showtime executive was as pleasantly surprised as anyone when their unforeseen fight started to come together last week, particularly because it happened so quickly. Showtime announced late Thursday morning that Broner (33-2, 24 KOs) and Garcia (36-0, 30 KOs) will meet July 29 in a 12-round, 140-pound fight.

Lets be real, Linares didn't want the fight and GB wasn't going to put in Linares against Mikey unless they got options on Mikey. For all the talk about Loma, Loma and Arum are talking about fighting Salido, would Arum actually allow Loma to fight Mikey unless he also got options on Mikey? Either way those two just fought and would they take on Mikey on short notice? Its a good fight to see if Mikey can perform at that weight

Can Garcia and Broner both make 140? Seems pretty ridiculous, should be fighting at 147 but Broner doesn't have the skills to be a world class fighter at 147 so 140 makes sense but all those months binge drinking, blowing up weight, rapping and making ****os will haunt Broner in making weight
