JDJ can forget about Kovalev listening to anything he has to teach at this point

With the thought of JDJ being a traitor and likely not being invested in his victory, I doubt he'll listen to anything he says. Camp effectively sabotaged, kovalev has no trainer this fight.

I'll say this was a lot smarter than Floyd paying ariza to leave maidana for the rematch.

I'm not sure Kovalev ever listened to any of his trainers tbh.

Which makes his record pretty impressive on its own.

They have been together years, he must have learned to listen to him even if just a bit, at this point he might just throw it all away, and out of spite might do exactly what jackson doesnt want him to do, and I like Jacksons strategy of working the body esspecially in close to get ward off of him.

Watch Kovalev between rounds, he doesn't hear a word Jackson says. Jackson was with Kovalev for only 2 weeks for Chilemba out of a 10 week camp. Kovalev also had issues with Abel Sanchez.

Honestly believe that trainers are just window-dressing for him.

Then hopefully it doesnt make a difference, but he should take to using the body snatching strategy.

I don't buy he doesn't listen to people. Didn't they bring in a guy who had him running 14 miles a day or whatever. I mean I'm a guy who's a lot more respectful of guys I feel are trying to help me out then Kov probably is and I'd be saying "yea we ain't doing this bro it's ******...we fighting not training for a marathon". But Kov just did it despite feeling all tired and broke down.

                  See this thread: https://www.boxingscene.com/forums/s...d.php?t=747547

On your points, in context the impression I got was that Kovalev felt he underperformed against Chilemba and cited a poor camp and then reactively overtrained for Ward.

In Kovalev I think we're just seeing a talented boxer with devastating power. He says he goes into every fight like a street fight, which doesn't sound like there's much evidence of a coaching gameplan.

How the hell can you have a trainer in your corner who straight up said "I woulda left to the other side if they would've offered me enough".
