This fight could obviously do 80-100K in a stadium, but the fight will go to Vegas for the following reasons:
1. Vegas pays. Simply put, the casino business knows they have to take a loss on the fight deal, pay more than they will make back by tickets. They do this because they know what they are really selling is food, hotels, and ******** losses to 20k people.
2. Competition with Mayweather McGregor. Sure, Dana White says they lost the date, but Mayweather may insist on competing directly with GGG Canelo. Now it was very very smart to announce the fight the way GBP did, it immediately overshadowed a truly terrible fight and another awful mismatch, and gave the ppv audience a reason to be glad they paid after all. What that also did was punish Mayweather McGregor's delaying by reserving the Mexican Independence holiday with HBO. Now Showtime could still go up against HBO with Mayweather McGregor, and maybe they would want to.
So how do you block Mayweather further if you are GBP? You blow up his Vegas spot. That's where Mayweather fights, that's where he'll want to fight this time. If you take his ppv timeslot AND his stadium, then you've really pushed him to abandon Mexican Independence Day. And really, I think keeping control of that date is one of the reasons GGG-Canelo finally got made.
So even if Jerry's world or the Dodgers or whomever put in serious competitive bids, they'll only be used to squeeze every penny out of Vegas. And if Mayweather McGregor ever seems close, GBP will be on the horn immediately to announce the fight location.
