Comments Thread For: Walsh 'Very Surprised' Davis Beat Pedraza, Especially Easily

Liam Walsh was as surprised as anyone the night of January 14. The unbeaten British super featherweight contender thought Jose Pedraza would beat Gervonta Davis. He thought Puerto Rico's Pedraza would remain undefeated and retain his IBF 130-pound championship against a powerful, talented opponent who hadn't really beaten anyone worth noting.

It's called being a humble class act. There's nothing wrong with him being honest about his predicted outcome for that fight. Not every fighter needs to be a d*** to get their point across.

I think most people were surprised at how that fight went. part of the reason why Davis got so much attention that day. He looked awesome.

Surprised the hell outta me. I don't think he beat him easily tho. He lost some rounds in that fight. Still my favorite fight so far this year. I didn't think the kid was ready.

Walsh is right. Pedraza fought Davis the wrong way. He should have used his height and reach advantages to keep Davis at bay with boxing. Instead, he got into a fire fight with the kid by standing in the pocket with him. Davis is short & should be fought from the outside. The kid's called "Tank" for a reason. If you stand right in front of him, he'll run you over.

Davis is going to beat Walsh, this comes to punching power and Walsh doesn't have enough. Now only if Davis could beat the speech problem he has.

Yeah, it seems to be getting worse. I hope it's something he can recover from completely, because he is such exciting young talent to watch.
