Comments Thread For: Sam Eggington Becomes Euro Champ, Stops Rodriguez in Ten

Barclaycard Arena (formerly NIA) , Birmingham, West Midlands - Sam Eggington (21-3) continued his terrific run of form since his 2016 defeat to Bradley Skeete with a tenth round knockout of European champion Ceferino Rodriguez. Once the rangy Eggington found his range, he couldn't miss with the straight right hand and as Rodriguez's nose bloodied he began to look anxious and his attacks more timid.

Eggington is so relentless, like a taller Provodnikov. That defence is gonna be an issue against a harder puncher but nonetheless a very entertaining style. He just called out Danny Garcia so that should be interesting!

"The Birmingham fans are loyal and with the fight of the year contender with Sam Eggington still fresh in their memory, the southpaw remains a popular figure here. It was scrappy stuff but Gavin built up enough momentum after a shaky start to be declared the 77-75 winner."

Am i reading this wrong? How does that timeline work?

Brutal, brutal KO. Would like to see Eggington get a chance to avenge his loss to Skeete

Hes saying that the fans still remembered the Gavin vs Eggington fight (the FOTY candidate) and he had some good will left over from that

Of course! Doh! Thanks for setting me straight.

(I thought he was referencing the Eggington fight that headlined the same bill)

I was reading it wrong. In my defence it was late and i was drunk

That was one hell of a ko. Egg's defence is ****house, but he can't half **** at welterweight. I wouldn't fancy the work if I was Garcia.
