Comments Thread For: Shannon Briggs to Fres Oquendo: I See In Your Eyes You're Scared

Shannon Briggs kept his shirt on and his mouth shut for as long as he could Tuesday. When he heard former heavyweight champion and friend Chris Byrd praising him during a press conference, Briggs sprung out of his seat, took off his shirt and launched into a tirade directed at Fres Oquendo. Briggs will oppose Oquendo for the vacant WBA world heavyweight title June 3 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

What a piss poor fight. The WBA really couldn't find two better fighters to contest for their heavyweight championship?

Did you expect anything less from the WBA?! Oquendo ok, he has his thing from 3 years ago against Chagaev, whatever but Briggs hasn't even fought a person with a heartbeat since his comeback although he did win a regional strap. Look whatever Briggs has battled adversity and this is his last chance, props for even getting a world title fight.

He should be scared of Briggs.

        - fought 12 rounds with Vitali
        - retired George Foreman
        - wobbled Lennox Lewis
        - highly motivated
        - 53 knockouts

Surprised Briggs can even see him - someone his age probably has glaucoma and cataract issues.

No really, War Briggs. This fight is a joke, but Briggs is likeable, and he'll pummel Fres.

This is going to be like a celebrity boxing match without the celebrity. Briggs is 45 and, by the time this bout kicks off, will have been inactive for a full year. Fres is just one year younger and would not have fought in three years. Is this WBA, or WWE?

              article needs a fact checker
and editor cuz they are NOT fighting for the world
championship. klitschko and joshua just fought for the WBA belt.

              the "regular" and "interim" belts
              mean u r definitely
not the world champ but you may get
              to challenge
              for thenworld
              championship next.

joshua and klitschko just fought for it. " regular" belt
                is not world championship.

"As soon as the bell ring, I’m coming to take your head off. I don’t get you in the first round, I’m gonna get you in the second. If I don’t get you in the second, I’m gonna get you in the third. And going all the way till the 12th. … Listen, I got Liahkovich in the 12th round, with 2:59 [expired in] the last round. You might have to go that way, too. But you going, champ. You’re going. Regardless of what, you’re going. I want you to know that."

**** yeah! This is awesome right here. LET'S ****ING GO CHAMP
