  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Weight for Canelo-GGG is 160; No Rehydration Clause

Canelo Alvarez isn't playing any weight games regarding weight gains in his showdown with Gennady Golovkin. Oscar De La Hoya confirmed during an interview Tuesday on ESPN's "First Take" that the contracted weight limit for their long-awaited fight is the middleweight limit of 160 pounds. De La Hoya, Alvarez's promoter, also said there aren't any rehydration clauses in the contracts that would limit either fighter from gain a specific amount of pounds following an official weigh-in September 15.

Canelo is bulky but I doubt he comes in heavier than Jacobs did.

So what's the prop bet on whether Canelo blows off the IBF weigh in? I don't think he can get much bigger than mid 170s anyway, but maybe he wants every ounce he can get.

Canelo's a real middleweight for sure. He's thick. A pocket battleship.
