Comments Thread For: Lucas Matthysse Says The Goal is Manny Pacquiao Showdown

This past Saturday night, Argentinean Lucas "The Machine" Matthysse (38-4, 35 KOs) made a smashing debut in the welterweight division. At the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Matthysse crushed the usually durable Emmanuel "Tranzformer" Taylor in five rounds as part of the HBO Pay-Per-View undercard to the all-Mexican showdown between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and Julio Csar Chvez Jr.

No way in HELL Bob Arum even entertains this fight...
Manny is being prepped (For feed) for Crawford or Lomachenko.

Definitely wouldn't be a boring fight. Not sure how Lucas thinks he has a chance if he got wrecked by Postol and Garcia. Can be good while it lasts but would rather see Manny in there with Crawford or Mikey Garcia. Thurman is at least a year off. Way better opponents.

I could see this one happening. We'll hear about Mikey Garcia, Spence, Brook, and Thurman, but in the end, it would be a guy like Broner or Matthysse!

Unless Pac slow down significantly he shouldn't have a problem to handle Lucas. I would rather love to see Matthysse fight a rusty Marquez who is at the tail end of his career.

If Matthysse wants another type of challenge, former sparring partner Bradley or Crawford will be great.

His goal should continue to be getting the Garcia rematch, that is as high as he can aim IMO.

At this stage in his career, I don't think a fight with Crawford would be a good move for Pacquiao; especially when there are other financially rewarding, and definitely more winnable match-ups out there for him!

Broner, Khan, and now Matthysse, spring to mind. None of them are with Top Rank though, and what sort of deal they would take will be a major factor in whether any of them get the fight.

As regards Matthysse, he probably thinks he has a punchers chance with Manny but I think his main motivation is one big payday to retire on. I not at all convinced his heart is in fighting anymore.

I do like those fights, especially the Khan fight. A good action fight and a money maker for everyone. Khan is still a live dog at 147. Broner wants nothing to do with Pac, already turned down $4M to fight him and I don't think Adrien wants to risk any more losses. His ego is just too big.
