  • Comments Thread For: Kal Yafai is Motivated To Unify By Rapid Rise of Anthony Joshua

Kal Yafai says Anthony Joshua MBE has set a new benchmark for British fighters to follow as he prepares to make the first defence of his WBA World Super-Flyweight title against Suguru Muranaka at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham on Saturday night, live on Sky Sports. Yafai and Joshua are close from their days as Team GB teammates, and Yafai won the crown he defends on home turf this weekend on the undercard of Joshua's win over Eric Molina in Manchester in December.

Respect to Kal Yafai to bad these Brits don't know or appreciate one of their few REAL world champions unlike Joshua and handful of other UK titlist. I expect Kal to KO Suguru Muranaka early -- looking forward to that Warington vs. Matinez match, good weekend of boxing.

I honestly think he'd run rings around Srisaket and Ancajas. The next WBO titlist after Inoue vacates could be the winner of Rex Tso vs Conlan, who would be easy pickings too

Kal is possibly the British P4P #1 imo. Just needs a good opponent so he can prove it. I was thinking that maybe Hearn could bring Casimero back over next, since he put on a good show last time and is now campaigning at 115

Btw you should check out his brother Gamal on the undercard too. I believe all three Yafai brothers are the real deal. (Galal is still amateur and competing in the World Series of Boxing at the moment)

I want to support boxing on BT but I think Sky wins for me this time with the two Yafai bros, Eggington for the EBU, Kelly's second outing and a Midlands area title fight. Not that arsed about Warrington vs Kiko, and ****ens and Ward are major pillow-fists

Kal is the most talented of Britian's amateurs over the las t10 years. I mean, exceptionally talented. I've been in the gym with the guy and the things he could do when he was younger were remarkable. I just feel he hasn't progressed as much in the pro ranks and has visibly slowed. Arent Roman, Estrada, Inoue and Cudras in his division? I can't imagine him getting past any of them.

Yeah overall Matchroom wins this time, hopefully the running orders are kind, Warren will have Nicola Adams high up the card, not interested in watching that.
