Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua Back in October, November - But No Clear Option

According to promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, he expects IBF, IBO and WBA world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (19-0, 19 KOs) to return to the ring on a date in October or November. Last Saturday night before a record crowd of 90,000 fans at Wembley in London, Joshua pulled off a career defining win with an eleventh round stoppage over former division ruler Wladimir Klitschko.

Will the IBF strip him if he goes through with the Klitschko rematch like they did Fury?

      Doubt it.

Hearn said he's going to "remind" the governing bodies that they now have a real star holding the belts i.e be more lenient with mandatories.

I don't know man, the IBF seems not to care who holds their belt. The only extensions I remember seeing recently that they have given have been due to injury, like the one they gave Kell Brook

How much do these Britts pay for PPV? I read somewhere from this point forward its only box-office for A.J's titles.

            Approximately $20 on average

He's been doing around 500k per fight

The Wladmir fight did 1.5 million (the British record)

I'd expect him to pull around 1 million from now on regardless who he fights (like Floyd did here), but to clear that number in the bigger fights.

Obviously the US PPV market would be more attractive but there's really only one fight for him here. They just need Wilder to build up his name so the fight could sell more than the 300k they'd likely sell now.

              Idk about no clear options.

If Klitschko wants the rematch you fight him cuz you're contractually obligated to do so.

If Klitschko doesn't want the rematch & Fury can somehow be in shape + ready you fight him.

And if Klitschko doesn't want the rematch + Fury isn't ready/needs more time you fight Pulev to keep all your belts.

              Seems pretty clear to me.

Then in the first quarter of 2018 you fight the Wilder/Parker winner ideally or Fury if you passed on him the first time or if neither of those options are viable fight some other bs #1 contender to fulfill or push back a mandatory situation.

Funny how the manager doesnt mention Ortiz. I guess Ortiz is too dangerous for their liking.

Things are gonna be nuts for Joshua when he can sell a UK PPV + a US PPV. 1M+ at $20ish + maybe 300k, 400k, 500k+ at the start & 1M+ later on down the line as he grows in popularity at $70ish a pop.

I assume Floyd gots the most 1M+ PPV buy fights in more than one more market for the same fight record, but for sure Joshua is gonna blast that record real quick if he gets to the point of being able to do that himself.
