  • Comments Thread For: Golden Boy President: Canelo-Golovkin "Close" for September

LAS VEGAS Eric Gomez didn't elaborate on what he meant by close. Nevertheless, Golden Boy Promotions' president said Wednesday that the company is "close" to finalizing a deal for a long-awaited Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin fight for September. Gomez quickly added, though, that negotiations for an Alvarez-Golovkin fight could become irrelevant if Alvarez doesn't defeat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in their Mexican showdown Saturday night at T-Mobile Arena (HBO Pay-Per-View; 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT; $69.99 in HD).

The plan is to wait for GGG to get Old. If they win they're going for BJS or Lemiuex.

He had to say if Chavez wins its irrelevant to disguise a potential robbery if the fight is close that's all. Lol

It better be next. The fight has already lost luster due to GGG turning 35 and having two less spectacular performances in a row.

The sun is also close to the earth Eric. Let us know when a contract is signed, he clearly just intimated he doesn't have a confirmation it's next by saying "We'll sit with the kid." Tired of quotes from both sides in this fight, tell us when it's signed that's all we care about.

Look at the golovkin **** riders already trying to squeeze in the excuses. Now when Canelo wins they'll say "b b but golovkin was 35!".....typical **** rider tactics
