    Aldeguer Refuses To Rush Bautista

Despite the eagerness of Oscar De La Hoya and his Golden Boy Promotions to push undefeated WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight champion Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista into a title fight against WBO super bantamweight champion Daniel Ponce De Leon of Mexico, Butista’s manager, the widely respected Tony Aldeguer refuses to rush the 19 year old sensation. that was a good move by tony. rey has a manila fight in july, and however good he seems to bem he needs to have more exposure and work out on his defense. damn, GBP probably wants to earn quick money using Boom Boom. Damn, the kid's just 19 foo!

that's how it looks. GBP wants a quick return for their 'investment' whatever it is they've done so far - media hype.

Smart move by Aldeguer. Promoters never really care for the fighters, they simply wanted to cash in while the fighter is good and winning then dispose them off like a garbage when they can attrack audience anymore.

GBP probably thinks they can make Boom Boom into a Pacquiao overnight. That aint happenin. In fact Pac is different, he was a hungrier boxer when he came to the States and up until only when he defeat barrera that he got the recognition. everybody was saying he's one-dimensional and couldnt make it in the league. In the case of Boom Boom, he doesnt have that hunger yet, people wants to throw him on the lion's den. You see the power but the desire has yet to be fully blown. He probably got a bigger arsenal of talent compared to Pac but he gots to have good opponents who can take him 12 rounds.

I agree, this is a good move, and Freddy Roach agrees.

No need to rush Rey along when he's only 19. Bring him along at a measured pace and take some time to let him grow and develope.

Boom boom looks taller than barrera in your avatar. I think he's a legit Featherweight

i don't mind Boom Boom being rushed ... he is young, a defeat this early in his career would just be a learning experience, the hunger which is not evident now will be gained ...

i dont want to see him fight tomato cans after tomato cans, he is the number 1 WBO bantam contender for quite sometime now, but would agree that he needs more fights at superbantam before challenging a champ ...
