Comments Thread For: Lennox Lewis: Joshua Can Be Great - But Not Better Than Me

Lennox Lewis believes Anthony Joshua has the ability to become an all-time great heavyweight - just not to the level that he did. In only his 19th fight as a professional, Joshua will on Saturday defend his IBF title and bids to win the WBA, IBO belts when he faces Wladimir Klitschko in front of 90,000 people at Wembley.

People are going to say hes a hater but its a fair comment and I agree
AJ doesnt have the skillset that Lewis does, Lewis was the complete package cuz he had the power, speed, size, strength, the ability to outbox an opponent or to fight rough inside.
Lewis' only weakness was his chin but even then AJ's chin from sparring rumours is probably just as bad if not worse.

Well, all these you can say for AJ as well...

Only time will tell if he can reach Lennox's level. maybe he will, it's not impossible.

I consider Lennox the best HW of all time, but comments like these always sound self serving/bitter.

It's very likely true, but let it play out and show itself.

Joshua could easily be a bigger than lewis .. maybe not skill wise but could be a bigger name

Obviously he would have to keep winning but he has big potential

              plus he's actually British

Understandable for Lennox to feel that way. He can't say or see another man is better than himself.

Pretty much all the greats feel this way.

Time will tell with Joshua and where he will be placed in history whether better than or not better than Lewis.

If AJ gets knocked out twice by one punch knockouts then no. Lewis was great but that hurt his standing. I rate Vitali ahead of him. He lost to Lewis but was never even knocked down in a fight. Much less knocked out. As for Patterson, a guy can't be great who is destroyed in the first round twice in a row by the same guy.

Its funny when people say joish didn't have extensive amateur career yet is Olympic champ?
But josh can be better than Lennox if he bests some great opponents.
But I'm agreeing with lkennox as josh seems a little old already.
But then again josh said he's here for long haul. And there's many he can beat in next 12 years.
So we will judge in 10 years at the very least
