Junior middleweight world titleholder Demetrius Andrade, unhappy with his purse and by a lack of communication with his promoters, has dropped out of a defense scheduled against Jermell Charlo on Dec. 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The upcoming WBA super welterweight title bout between Demetrius Andrade and Jack Culcay, which was scheduled for this Saturday (November 5th), is dead in the water. Andrade and his team reportedly missed several deadlines, ultimately signing the contract just last week.

Andrade is so irrelevant people forget his entire career is littered with talking to the media but refusing to fight. But Lara is with Haymon and isn't a slugger so let's blame it on him anyway.

I lost 90% of respect for Lara when he showed up to another fighters POST fight press conference and started popping off at the mouth! Saying all that sht. He said he was going to MURDER Canelo. Knock him the F-Out!!! Acted like the BIGGEST BULL DOG in the ring and then...Turned stright Chihuahua and ran with his tail between his LEGS like a BI@TCH! He runs his MOUTH almost as much as he ran in the ring.

Yea, he sure did. Gave away those rounds by running. I rooted for him in that fight but actually came out of that fight with a new respect for Canelo.

I was never really a fan of Lara's but I was willing to stand-up for the guy when he said he wanted to fight Golovkin while everyone at 160 was ducking. I said from the beginning he was going to have to go up in weight and earn the shot because Golovkin was certainly not going to give it to him. But, Lara just kept yapping and not actually going after it.

At this point, I don't have any reason to support him for pursuing the fight because he's not actually pursuing it. He's doing what Golovkin did to Ward and just acting brave.

Ummm... What? I think you need to rewatch that because it was actually very awkward and you could tell it wasn't in Lara's nature to do something like that. So stop exaggerating bs. I guarantee you it was his team who told him to do that.

I would believe you if he wasn't calling out GGG also. ??? So I don't understand how it's "Not in his nature" When ALL he does is call big names out???

I hope this fight happens so we can finally find out what Andrade has. While he's had some very pretty performances in his career, his two title wins (Martirosyan, Culcay) did not impress me. I wonder if a fighter like Lara would elevate Andrade's game to an elite level or if Lara would expose Andrade's limitations.

Either way, Andrade is the interesting part of their would-be fight.

Andrade , Lara, and Russell Jr. ALL annoy me... They TALK big fights and then NONE happen. They fight once a year and THEN RETIRE calling EVERYONE else out who is ACTUALLY FIGHTING!!! And putting in the work.

Wow, a lot of unfair hate for Lara in this thread. He's easily the best at 154 right now, so what if he feels like this? Also, the thread title is a bit misleading and taken a bit out of context. All he said is that Andrade is asking too much money, but that's who he is trying to fight right now.


I like Andrade but I'm sick of him viewing himself so highly when he's virtually a nobody and hasn't done much of anything. Says he wants the Charlos, Canelo, Lara, ect. but fights once a year against nobodies.

Lara talks a lot and people give little credit to what he says (I don't agree with the way he's ignored but, let's face it, people don't give him the respect he deserves). When people are coming to Lara's defense over a guy like Andrade, you know Andrade has no credibility because people rarely side with Lara anymore.

And, yea, I've seen comments from Andrade's team and they seem like have all sorts of convoluted excuses ready to go at any time. As far as the man himself, I really don't know yet.

Lara is the a-side you idiot. he's the champ plus he's with Haymon.

Neither of these guys are A side. That's the point. Lara is a boring fighter who has been overpaid by haymon for god knows why paid 1mil for showcase fights with bums where he is booed by whatever few fans they tricked to show up. And boo boo has such terrible management team that they got this idiot fighting for crumbs over seas and wasting years with inactivity. Jermel charlo who fans actually care about made only 100k last weekend. Neither Lara or boo boo should be crying and killing fights over money. Lara needs to take a major paycut to make better fights. At best they should be splitting 800k to 1m. Neither are draws.
