Comments Thread For: Arum: Gvozdyk Knocks Out Ward and Kovalev on The Same Night!

So what were Bob Arum's thoughts on Oleksandr Gvozdyk's third round demolition of Yuniesky Gonzalez this past weekend at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland? Arum, the CEO of Top Rank, wants to bring Gvozdyk to Las Vegas on June 17th and have him ringside at the T-Mobile Arena for the highly anticipated rematch between IBF, WBA, WBO world champion Andre Ward and challenger Sergey Kovalev.

    Dude leaves himself wide open.

Both Kov & Ward would time him before he could time them.

Wasn't he training with Robert Garcia? Garcia might've let a champ slip through.

Gvozdyk reminds me of Kessler before his back and hand injuries robbed him of a step, but Gvozdyk seems to be a bit more accurate and is bigger. Ward would try to headbutt him to death, and we all know boxing refs suck, so Gvozdyk would need crazy stamina to keep Ward off him.....he does seem to have power so that might buy him that time. Kovalev could probably snipe him but since his dedication is questionable, I wonder how he would deal with the speed and movement if the fight goes late...would love to see those fights.

He isn't ready for Ward/Kovalev.. Gvozdyk at each some shots against Gonzalez in the first round.. he needs more good opponents and work..

Styles make fights. In a war against another boxer-puncher Kovalev, the guy with one punch KO power, Kovalev, would get Gvozdyk out first. Gvozdyk against Ward... if Gvozdyk has more stamina than Kovalev at this point in his career, and more combinations, he could do what Kovalev did to Ward the first six rounds for all 12. That's assuming he can match Kovalev's accuracy. Gvozdyk also has more lateral movement than Kovalev. What if Gvozdyk decides to fight backwards against Ward? It could be a Chris John vs JMM situation where Ward can't really box going forward against a guy with good movement, longer reach, near equal speed, and more power than him who has good stamina. Not comparing that to Chris John by the way, but it's just an example.

I'd love to see that fight. Kovalev-Gvozdyk I think I already know who wins, but Gvozdyk-Ward would be a mystery until we see it.

Gvozdyk has good feet, like wheels, smooth. He gets in position to show off his hand speed and power. Nice style.

Beterbiev is still playing for the PBC JV Team at Light Heavyweight. Like Stevenson he has great talent, but until he fights even top 10 guys, let alone the top 5, there's not really anything to talk about with him. I'm a Beterbiev fan but the last two years of his career, he may as well be Rigondeaux. I've forgotten about him. When is he even fighting? Al Haymon ruining another promising career.
