Comments Thread For: Lomachenko Plan: Flanagan Next; Build Toward Mikey Garcia

OXON HILL, Maryland Vasyl Lomachenko's manager wants him to move up to lightweight for his next fight. Egis Klimas revealed following Lomachenko's nine-round domination of Jason Sosa on Saturday night at MGM National Harbor that he wants Lomachenko to travel to England to meet Manchester's Terry Flanagan in his next fight. Flanagan (33-0, 13 KOs), the WBO world lightweight champion, out-pointed Russia's Petr Petrov (38-5-2, 19 KOs) earlier Saturday in Manchester, Flanagan's hometown, and has said he would like to face Ukraine's Lomachenko next.

Mikey Garcia's Plan: Fight Linares at least once, if not twice, then see which fighter wants it, Lomachenko or Crawford! Money talks, and bull**** walks! Now if Linares starts talking about a different opponent too, then the target immediately becomes Ricky Burns or Terence Crawford @ 140! GGG turned down Ward for Canelo and Cotto, and look how that worked out!

All he has to do is turn up at the show and after 9 rounds Flanngan will quit in his career defining fight and lose the longest unbeaten run in England. Just show he fought nobody

Since both guys are southpaw, we won't have to deal with all of the awkwardness that we saw in their last two respective fights.

It's gonna be hard to hurt these dudes at 135lbs & above. Let's see what happens.

              I'm down for that!
I'd prefer that both Loma and Garcia clean up their division and then face off.

Yep. I hope his power carries up.

Flanagan's only advantage is his size*. I'm guessing he's probably beyond the welterweight limit in the ring. Other than that it's just a contest of the most one-dimensional titlist in the sport versus the most multidimensional

Edit: Oh, and the home cooking too

How much longer can Mikey even make 135?
