I had high hopes for this kid back in 2015. But with the constant struggles against opposition that he should be beating fairly easily. I lost faith and hope in him. At this stage of Cotto's and Trinidad's careers. They were destroying this level of competition. Still waiting to see who is going to carry the torch from Cotto to be the next great Puerto Rican fighter.

I'm uncertain about him. He seems to have the right things going for him and I can't tell if he's just an ok fighter that's going to get blasted out when he steps up. Or, if he's someone who under-performs with low-level comp (in order words, only fights to the level of the opponent) which is a psychological issue. LSC, James Degale, Danny Garcia, and numerous other decent fighters tend to look average against average guys, but are able to step it up when the occasion calls for it. Not sure if Verdejo is one of those.

Meh. Not interested in Verdejo right now.

135 is heating up, I'd rather see Mikey Garcia/Linares/ Flanagan/Easter Jr have a mini tournament.

I hope that Felix is putting everything in the gym, the talent is there, he just needs the mentality.

Still waiting for that breakout performance from Verdejo, but gotta remember he's still really young. I hope they put him in with a fringe contender at the Garden in June. Luis Cruz, Gilberto Gonzalez, Franklin Mamani, Argenis Mendez. Lots of solid options out there, but I can't help but wonder if maybe he needs that jump up in competition to help his growth and force the him to use some of those skills he has

Agreed. Verdejo complicates these potential match-ups. He should make a full recovery from injuries and get some rounds in before trying his luck.

Felix needs to step up his comp. He hasn't done anything to deserve a title shot yet.
