Comments Thread For: Loeffler: I Hope Jacobs Bout Gave Canelo a Glimmer of Hope

K2 Promotions head Tom Loeffler, who promotes IBF, IBO, WBC, WBA middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkon (37-0, 33 KOs), is hoping that his boxer's last performance will inspire Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) to finalize a deal for a September fight.

whatever happened to "all the belts" at 160 being the top priority?? Loeffler should secure the saunders fight asap if that final belt is really that important. obviously hes putting more effort into canelo fight which is just a money fight.. so its clear money motivates ggg and his camp more than any belt does. i better not hear them ever again turning down fights because "we want all the belts".

I want to see the fight. Too much "marinate". There's no way Alvarez is scared. It's the promoter who is giving his fighter the best chance to win by stalling out and letting Golovkin's shelf life as a fighter fade.
I wouldn't look past Julio Jr either. This is boxing and there's no lucky punches. Chavez can win this fìght with his size and pressure.
Golovkin should go sign the Saunders fight. If the fight happens against Canelo it'll be for the Undisputed mw Title.

When fighters think they have no chance of winning a fight, that’s when they want these crazy amounts of money. Hopefully Canelo is inspired by the performance [of Jacobs] and it gives him a glimmer of hope that he can win the fight. We’re not taking anything away from Canelo. I have a lot of respect for him and for what he’s accomplished in his career,"

Says a lot because IT WAS GOLOVKIN THAT TURNED DOWN 5X HIS HIGHEST PAY DAY.

Tom, when you are digging a hole for yourself, the first thing you need to do it to STOP DIGGING! You cost your client well over $15 million already. Two cliches are in order: You over played your hand, and, They called your bluff. Time to move on.

The Jacobs fight didn't do anything for Golovkin's team instead it might have strengthened Canelo's (GBP) negotiating position.
