  • Comments Thread For: Wilder: Klitschkos Made it Boring, I Want To Make it Great Again!

WBC heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder (38-0, 37 KOs) is very motivated to rebuild the excitement factor of his division. He believes that brothers Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko, once they dominated the division for over a decade, made the heavyweight division boring and fans began turning away from boxing's most prestigious division.

Once I have all of the belts, No. 1 and No. 2, guys, let’s go! All of the mandatory [challengers], let’s go! Once I unify, all of the names that [are] up-and-coming and all of the names people want me to see will be more realistic to happen.”

They should be realistic now you ****.. youve had the belt two years and havent fought a single opponent in your orgs top 5.

We need to see a live challenger in with Wilder next. We get it. He learned on the job due to his short amateur career.
I've never seen a heavyweight titlist fight such soft competition.

I like Wilder, but he should have said he wants to make the division exciting and left it at that. Tyson, Ali,Holmes, Lennox never spoke negatively about their elders.

It will be exciting when if he ever climbs into the ring with a real challenger. Fight Ortiz or Joshua before the end of the year, then talk.

He is exciting. We just need him in with other top heavyweights.

Let's be honest, nobody is going to fight a 64-year-old Ortiz so we can probably stop hoping for that one but as long as he fights Joshua or Klitschko over the next year then it is all good. That will tell us if he is the man or not.

I am not convinced he loses to those two. How can you be when he punches like that?

Let's face it, Wilder may never be on par skills wise with the Klitschkos. But I really get a kick out of his fights and he has scary power.

The only remote reason his fights are more exciting than Klitchko is he struggles against less skilled opposition . IF he wanted to take over the division he wouldn't have purposely avoided Klitchko years back in the first place . As far as making boxing exciting ?That will be lead by Joshua with knock out reels against top fighters ,while you still are fighting Stivern /Mansour level guys .

You are going to help make boxing exciting but thats only bc you will contribute to Joshuas knock out reels when he knocks you out .
