The peak audience for Saturday's SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING ON CBS broadcast of Thurman vs. Garcia reached 5.1 million viewers, the largest audience for a primetime boxing broadcast since 1998 and up 30 percent over last June's SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING ON CBS primetime broadcast of Thurman vs. Porter. Last Saturday's peak audience came during the final round of the 12-round main event bout.

When you put good fights on

people will watch! Its really not that hard to understand. Good for boxing. But in the end, the fight underwhelmed unfortunately.

Good ratings for a for a fight that didn't live up to the hype... Lacked drama and signature Rd. Peak was obviously BC fight ran long and viewers were looking for their local programing. Live crowd actually booed last few RDS.

Why won't bob arum put his shows on cbs/showtime, why ppv? Why are promoters going against the grain, especially with their major stars like Anthony Joshua ggg CANELO manny, put them on network television so they can have more exposure

This proves boxing is far from dead, and people will watch good match ups. Only the best fights should be on ppv, and ppv fighters need to be built.

PPV fights in the 90s and early 2000s was saved for MUST SEE fights for the most part. Too often nowadays that isn't the case.

What's the solution? More competitive fights earlier in fighters career, build the name and interest, not just a padded 25-0 record. By the time they get to 25-0 they need to be a well known name, on the way to being a household name.

CBS/Showtime is a strong platform for PBC. Garcia vs Thurman had a lot of buzz.

Glad they had a national platform to showcase this elite talent.
