Comments Thread For: Nonito Donaire a Free Agent, Parts Ways With Top Rank

After a long and successful association with Top Rank, former multi-division champion Nonito Donaire has parted ways with the company.
Donaire initially signed with Top Rank in 2008 after parting ways with promoter Gary Shaw. He nearly left the company in 2011 after signing a deal with Golden Boy Promotions, which caused a minor legal battle as Top Rank proved he was still contractual tied to their company. They eventually reconciled later that year.

Is Bob gonna call his wife a whore again? I would've never went back to Bob after that disrespect

Donaire, Seanie Monaghan, matt korobov, and one person person who I can't remember have left Top Rank the last couple of months. Maybe Vanes will go back to Top Rank. He's a free agent

Heard Crawford wasn't to happy with Top Rank either. A couple people at the fight Saturday said he mentioned more than once while he was there. It's got to be frustrating sitting there knowing you could probably beat both those guys but the possibility of fighting them is slim

Paulie said one of the reasons he signed with Haymon, after bashing him previously, was the Broner fight. He saw how things were done on Broner's side compared to how he's always seen things done.

Top Rank has been letting go of older talent lately. While gathering a lot of Olympic talent. Donaire is a solid fighter still. Interested to see what happens next for him. The 122 pound division has is very unknown outside of Rigo.

Top Rank is in a interesting position because while PBC has multiple platforms to showcase their talent, Golden Boy debuts on the ESPN platform with there Estrella, and HBO platforms.Top Rank doesn't have those avenues outside of HBO.

Top Rank needs to merge with someone or make a network deal to showcase there talent.

I think top rank still has that tru tv deal plus they have their own ppv shows.top rank has been building stars for years mainly using hbo they will be fine.pbc with all their channels have yet to create their own star. Not a single one.

That TruTV deal has been dead for over a year now.
