Comments Thread For: Matt Korobov Parts Ways With Top Rank, Now a Free Agent

Matt Korobov's manager has informed BoxingScene.com that the middleweight contender has negotiated a release from his promotional contract with Bob Arum's Top Rank Inc. The Russian-born Korobov (27-1, 14 KOs) hopes the release enables him to land big fights in either the middleweight or super middleweight divisions. The decorated amateur is ranked at middleweight by the WBO (No. 9), WBC (No. 10) and IBF (No. 12).

Mike Borao? So he's not with Cameron Dunkin anymore either? I heard about the TR release a week ago, but idk if that helps his career any.

I'd love to see Korobov/Charlo, but he's a high risk low reward for someone like Charlo. Korobov badly needs a couple of quality wins to make himself relevant, and I don't mean those 8 rounders he takes against journeymen.

Too bad that he got stopped by Andy Lee which totally throws the thing he has with Top Rank and HBO.

Will like to see him against eubank jr.

So Zurdo turned the fight down. That's disappointing

Also, it's nice to see someone part ways with Arum amicably for once

Korobov is the biggest amateur flop of all time.

Eh, I always thought he was over-rated coming out of the Olympics.

If he had beaten Andy Lee he'd be right in the thick of things. That loss set him back.
