Comments Thread For: Deontay Wilder: Titles Aside - I'm The Man To Beat at Heavyweight!

Deontay Wilder, who is the WBC heavyweight champion, returns to the ring Saturday night against unbeaten and mostly unknown Gerald Washington (18-0-1, 12 knockouts) at Legacy Arena in Alabama. Washington is a 34-year-old former Southern California tight end and defensive end. He is also a former Navy helicopter mechanic who turned pro less than five years ago.

He certainly gets the most attention with all his opponents doping and Fury getting stripped.

Why is he the man to beat if you put titles aside? LOL. If he didnt have that WBC belt..he'd bring even less money to the table than he does now?

The man to beat in this business is the man who makes the most money and is more widely viewed, that isnt Wilder lol.

Regardless, everyone will be waiting for the winner of that fight to face wilder next.

Absolutely true, there is no HW with Deontays experience at world level and that can match his speed but most of all NATURAL superhuman strength! This is why they all stay ducking the 'Bronze-Bomber' instead of lining up they decide to face the Parkers and Juiceua's...as was the case with Glazkov, Hughie Fury, Tyson Fury, and now maybe even Parker can be added to this list - I hope I'm wrong about Parker ( a VADA tested fighter ) so that Wilder sets the record straight with his critics once and for all!

That depends on who papa Ortiz and Uncle Eddie want him to fight.

If bermane dont want that work in an eliminator then Ortiz is mandatory for the WBC, he's already Mando for the WBA Super and Pulev is mandatory for the IBF and the AJ/klit winner will have to take it or be stripped of it.

Nones facing Wilder next. He needs to realise having that Green belt doesnt mean you say what goes on and that currently.. the top heavies are doin their own thing without the WBC cos their champ brings nothing to the table financially.

By "next," I didn't mean in the literal sense. Wilder already stated there may be mandos in the way.

By next, I meant anticipated. Whoever wins between Klit-Josh, won't be crowned king-of-kings at the HW level, though they may be ranked #1. Everyone knows Wilder will still be out there, which is what I think he was trying to say. Nothing wrong with giving himself a little juice.

Bumsquad is a sidenote at best, a third grade beltholder with almost 40 fights and no notable win, he defeated a fat undersized nohoper for his belt whose best win was Arreola. LOL. Other Heavyweights are fighting in front of 90k+ in huge arenas and this clown cant sell out his backyard.
