Comments Thread For: Klitschko: Joshua Fight is Toughest Challenge That I've Ever Had

According to former division king Wladimir Klitschko, his upcoming fight with IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is the "toughest challenge" of his entire career. The fight is scheduled to take place on April 29th at Wembley Stadium, and a record crowd of 90,000 fans are expected at the venue. Joshua has steamrolled through nearly every opponent on his undefeated 18-0 record. Only two fighters, Dillian Whyte and Dominic Breazeale, have been able to make it to the seventh round.

I understand Wlad's pov of this fight. His age, just coming a loss, Joshua's Olympic success, size, youth, power. It is probably the biggest challenge he takes. Some will take this the wrong way and mention fights that in hindsight were tougher than expected like Fury and Sanders but really Joshua has as much hype as Haye did when he was gonna fight Wlad but only that this time, moreso than Haye, the hype is really warrated. If Wlad escapes this fight with a decision loss I would still have lots of respect for him but if he loses I would understand, he's just too old and past it. If he wins, wow, just retire after that, how can you top it other than the peace of mind of avenging his loss to Fury?

true how the article's title can initially be disagreed with and perceived wrong.
This fight I'm looking forward to - just as much as Fury or Wilder if not more - great test for Joshua's boxing IQ.....great test for Wlad's status in HW division. I would like to see what Joshua's Chin is made of- hopefully Wlad feels him out then engages a bit.

It is probably the biggest fight Wlad has been in since Fury or Haye.. the odds are against him and the last time that was the case was Sam Peter I.. show us one last spark Wlad and then retire for good..

lets not forget klitchko is NOT a modern great in any shape or form based on opponents faced.
fury is fackin rubbish! it was an off night for the klit because he just froze for some unexplained reason.
even beating the fat ***** would have done nothing for the klit because the ***** is fackin crap! the only good fight i remember watching with the big klit is against corrie sanders where he got found out with BIIIIG shots. easy right there for tony josh.
the only thing here is can the klit ride the onslaught of a very young and fresh beast....it only takes one and especially against a fellah who doesnt really have a good chin AND he will be punished for trying to hold and move joshua around like he and his brother are "great" for by never being penalised for doing so and why?
            germany. i rest my case.

He's had a few hallmark fights but this one is up there because of the hype. On paper, Vlad should win.

I think he fights on should he get past this one. If he loses he can only retire or have an easy farewell fight in Germany.

well most of the times when there was a very big superfight anounced it was pretty much boring. remember maywether paccaio for example. and i m sure it will be like that this time. everybody is expecting a great show but nothing like that will happen. i guess wlad is to static and does not have the skills to get aj in troube. on the other hand, he has enough of experience to avoid big damage on himself. i expect e pretty much boring fight and a point decision on aj win

Surely if he wins, fans and media will call for Wlad vs Wilder, and knowing Wlad he doesn't back down from a y challenge. He'll take it. But he shouldn't push it. He's had a great career and retiring on a Joshua win would be retiring on top. Which as we're so tired of seeing, rarely happens. Fighters just keep going instead of retiring on a big win, they retire on a big loss. Joshua could be that big win and Wilder can be that "one fight too many" for Wlad. Or maybe Wlad's last big win will be Pulev, that's also a possibility.
