Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia's Trainer: Crawford is The Kind of Fight We Want!

Robert Garcia, brother and head trainer of WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia (36-0, 30 KOs), says his boxer wants the biggest fights possible in 2017. This past Saturday night, Mikey secured a brutal three round knockout of undefeated Dejan Zlaticanin at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. An uppercut followed by a crushing hook sent Zlaticanin down and completely out cold.

Great fight if it happens. I would favour Crawford but only just.

I know it has been said before but really sad that he did not fight for 2 and 1/2 years. He's a really good fighter and remember him dropping Salido 4 times.

Would love to see this fight but not really in a rush for it. If Mikey can't get any of the other champs at 135 for a fight then Crawford at the end of the year would make sense

Then fight him already. These are the kinds of fights they took forever to build towards three ****ing years ago, and then they bailed right before Mikey could have fought a good opponent.

Is this going to be a re-run now? Will Mikey talk a big game, fight cherries for two more years, then retire again right before the big fights? I want to like Mikey, super talented, likeable guy, but I lost all confidence. He will gain back a fan when he actually signs the contract against a top opponent, not before then. I can't believe the talk anymore until he proves it's real.

I like their attitude, after two years out they are NOT wasting any time in getting Mikey back on a good run. Hope the fight happens this year, nothing to criticise here, great mentality.

Mikey should've said "I want Manny Pacquiao!" That's a sure-fire PPV success! I would love to see Garcia vs. Crawford or Garcia vs. Loma, but somehow I see Garcia vs. Broner as the most realistic scenario for 2017!

This is how it used to be sure they wanted top $ of the day but the best wanted the best to see who was king of a weight. Garcia doing it right. Him vs Crawford is a superfight if only they had a piece of floyds popularity real fans will eat this up Floyd never fought a fighter in his prime like this only corralles and maybe Castillo but not for the last feels like 20 fights

Good ambition but let's not get it mixed up Mikey ain't ready for Crawford. Crawford is basically a good sized welterweight fighting at 140 Mike doesn't have the size to deal with Crawford and would just end up like Gamboa.

Not impossible but just much more better match ups and more winnable fights for Mikey like Broner, Pacquiao Mikey should go after to the guys around his own height not take on Crawford who's maybe 2-3 fights away from full time at 147

Flanagan needs a big fight but I think he, along with Linares and Crolla will avoid Garcia as long as possible - inspite of what they say.
