Respect to Showtime for getting a W over HBO in the first time in forever. Hopefully they build on the W instead of pissing it all away like they usually do.

Definitely a all around great night for boxing fans regardless of all the **** measuring HBO vs Showtime.

They used up a big chunk of that budget for a fight that couldn't Crack 600k.
Ratings don't mean much to cable networks like HBO and Showtime. They care about subscribers. All the shows, movies and fights get replayed over and over on those channels. Both fights have been on a few times already since it aired live. Ratings only matter to network channels like CBS,FOX and NBC because those shows need to generate viewers in order to sell commercial spots. There have been plenty of shows who generated over 2 million views who were cancelled. What Marquee match-up are u referring to? Hopkins or Crawford cards, because both were not marquee fights.

All they had to do was move one of the cards to a week later, whoever took that date last should have and then both would have higher ratings than they did.

ya im not sure who was first but it seems like hbo always tries to put cards on same night as showtime and even uses he same demographic like using vargas against santa cruz

I always thought Showtime had better quality fights, just not enough of them.

I also wonder how many watching are actual boxing fans, versus those that just have the TV on HBO.
Naw. That Bill Simmons show was so bad they cancelled it before the end of the first season. They put ALOT of money into that show and his website. ALOT OF MONEY!! Money that should've went to boxing. They put $100 mil into Vinyl and cancelled it after the first season. They aren't interested in boxing. It's plain to see

Good. Showtime had the date first so it's poetic justice.

It wouldn't have been hard for HBO to move their card to a different weekend. But they wanted to be assholes about it so they deserve to take the L.

Competition brings out the best of both. Simlply watch the best card first.

It's certainly not because I didn't want to see Vargas-Berchelt (and Miura)...I just forgot HBO had fights that night. I don't even remember a weighin thread for the HBO bouts around here. I don't know if it's a lack of promotion, but the entire card slipped my mind.

I still haven't had the chance to catch the fights, will do soon.
