Promoter Yvon Michel is optimistic regarding negotiations for Adonis Stevenson to defend his WBC light heavyweight title against Joe Smith Jr. The Stevenson fight Michel is discussing with Joe DeGuardia, Smith's promoter, would take place April 29 at the newly renovated Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, New York. Smith, who knocked out legend Bernard Hopkins last month, is from Mastic, New York, another Long Island town that's about a 45-minute drive from Uniondale.

So still ducking his mandatory Alvarez? Smith seems much easier to figure out/beat than Alvarez. This clown needs to retire.

After losing to Fonfara, I wouldn't be surprised if he lost to Smith Jr too.

Why would Smith wanna derail his career when it's just starting? Who's advising this guy, Lester Diamond ?

                    ???

He has nothing to lose and everything to gain. You sound like one of these cats who wants fighters to fight TBA's after winning big fights.

Win or lose, he will get another offer to fight again on HBO or even Showtime.
