  • Comments Thread For: Paul Smith Set to Challenge Tyron Zeuge On March 18

Paul Smith could be in line for another title shot. The Liverpool super-middleweight, who has fought for global honours twice and been in the ring with pound-for-pound star Andre Ward, was last in action last September, exclusively live on Sky Sports Box Office.

I wasn't even aware that he's been fighting again since losing to Ward. The guy is actually a pretty fun boxer to watch, outside of that shameful showing.

Smith is a great lad and I really like his commentary on sky but, judging by his most recent outings, he doesn't deserve a title shot. Zeuge is a poor champion though and if Smith gets himself in good shape he can win this and I hope he does.

If you keep giving Smith title shots, he's bound to, got to, get lucky eventually.. Hasn't he.. Surely?

So, Smith looked pretty bad in the last 2? I honestly don't even know if I've seen Zeuge. I'd like to see Paul pull it together as he was a real scrapper once. But, it sounds as if he's just going through the motions while he attempts to transition his career to commentary work.

He didn't necessarily look bad but his last 3 were against journeymen that shouldn't have given him much of a ranking boost.

Smith of course has done nothing to earn yet another alphabet title shot but Zeuge is the ultimate paper beltholder and it wasn't like Sauerland was going to let him defend against a legit challenger

Pretty much everything that's wrong with boxing at this moment in time.
