Comments Thread For: Barrera: Kovalev Beat Ward 8-4 or 7-5, Ward is Dirty Fighter

Written off by some after dropping a decision to Andre Ward earlier this year, Sullivan Barrera made sure he ended 2016 on a high note. Apart from claiming the WBC USNBC title at 175lbs, the 34-year-old also upset the applecart dropping his Ukrainian rival Vyacheslav Shabranskyy three times along the way to a seventh round stoppage win last Friday in Indio, California.

8-4 is the most realistic coWard had zero effect on Krusher other than making him tired by running away all night.

Barrera is a racist. Only whites saw Kovalev win.

Same score i had, disappointed in Ward i thought he was going to school the Russian!

Turns out the Russian was schooling him which shows how good Kovalev's boxing skills is and he has one of the better jabs in the sport, i mean that thing is like a battering ram mixed with a iron coating

Watched the fight 8 times and i loved how he negated Wards hit and hold tactics by tying him up or giving him short left hooks on the inside!

Only thing Kov can improve on is to not allow SOG to drag him into a wrestling match which is partially what made the fight closer and utilize body shots more!

Kov didn't start throwing body shots till the 12th and we all saw what happened when he did, Ward wanted no parts of that!

Rematch is very needed and i expect another great figbt between 2 elite guys!

Barrera is a bit salty but what he's saying isn't far from truth! #boxing

Although I disagree with Kov winning 7 or 8 rounds, I like that Barrera is trying to get the rematch against Ward and that he is going after the top names in the division. He can talk all the crap he wants, if he is going up against tough opponents and not relying on tune-ups or bad mismatches. This comes off as sour g****s to me (mixed with the fact that his current trainer was on Kov team), but I'm digging Sully B right now. He's not scared of the challenges and is going after everyone. That's the type of mentality that boxing needs. Hopefully, he can get Beterbiev, Alvarez, Cleverly, or someone else in that tier next. The top 3 are probably not going to happen any time soon.

Barrera was backing and favoring Kovalev before the fight, I was checking his twitter

Barrera was more competitive challenge for Ward than Froch

I doubt that, he's allowed to have his opinion.... plus nobody does flip flopping like Golovkin fans anyway lol. Barrera is a good fighter, ask Freedom and Jubei if they think Shabransky is still any good
