Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez Training For The Holidays, Eager To Fight

MAZATLAN, Sinaloa.- The holiday celebrations do not stop the training of the Mazatlan boxer Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (34-0, 24KOs), because despite not having a confirmed return date, he's working hard with a clear objective on his mind: to successfully carry out the first defense of the super middleweight world title of the World Boxing Organization (WBO).

GGG should "one-up" Canelo by fighting Ramirez for his title @ 168, while Canelo fights Chavez Jr. @ 164!

Chavez Jr is still a bigger name than Zurdo right now title or no title. Chavez Jr. The son of arguably the most loved and respected boxer in the history of Mexico. Canelo vs Chavez Jr. will sell out Cowboy Stadium easily. Lil G vs Zurdo wouldn't even bring in the 52,000 that Canelo brought in against Smith.

The casuals might like the Canelo vs. Chavez fight, and it will probably be the highest PPV of 2017, however if GGG beats Zurdo for a title @ 168, it will be a much bigger statement than Canelo beating Chavez Jr. at 164! Zurdo @ 168 is a tougher opponent than Junior @ 164(if he can make it)!
