  • Comments Thread For: Hopkins, Smith Weigh 174; Smith: This Common Man' Beats His Ass

Joe Smith's message after he and Bernard Hopkins weighed in at 174 pounds apiece Friday was simple. "I'm just gonna show that I am common," said Smith (22-1, 18 KOs), who works as a laborer on Long Island when he's not training for fights. "But I'm gonna put on a great show, and this common man's gonna beat his ass."

Hopkins is going to beat the pabst out of this kid.

Excited to see hopkins finish his career with a great performance. Probably the best fighter of the last generation.

What's with the zero rep power and all red rep I make good concise logical points. I also refer to history and fighters maybe you millenials do not know even when they are all time great hall of gamers. Maybe we need a new fan board for real fans for those of us not into skate boarding just boxing mma football hoops baseball and for my European brothers soccer aka football

            It's a good gimmick!

Smith can punch like a mule so if he gets to Hop early could be anybody's fight.
If Hop stays out of harm's way for the first couple rounds, it ought to be easy for him. But he is 9000 years old, father time might suddenly catch up.

Handled kovalevs power probably can handle smiths lol but time and rust has added up. Once a guy that age can literally age before your eyes and become a different fighter Lose it all except IQ

I understand that Pavlik's former manager is upset that Smith diminished him...but to belittle Smith's knockout of Fonfara is ridiculous. Here's the thing. Fonfara is one of the most stubborn fighters in the sport ! He gets hurt, he get knocked down. BUT he gets back up, and now he wants REVENGE . He winds up hurting his opponent back. The fact that Smith was able to knock this guy into next week, in the first round, so that he had no thoughts of coming back for revenge, has to be commended !

Smith Jr was about to go down himself when he threw that blind Hail Mary out of nowhere ... If you want a good example of a lucky punch, that's it... I'm sure he was surprised himself that he connected ...
