Struggling
- he took 2 rounds to get used to Khan's speed, then he took over. He was outboxing and beating him up before knocking him cold. He's also beat Lara, prime Trout, Cotto, Angulo, Kirkland...
Charlo is solid, but he only sc****d past a faded Trout.
He won't have much to fall back on against a better fighter that he's not much bigger than. Canelo and Lara deal with him quite comfortably.Comment

Late to the party. What or whose party?Charlo is basically just a little late to the party and will have to wait in line.
Canelo is already going down the tracks of either Lemieux, Saunders or JCC Junior next, then on to GGG. Once that's played out, Charlo willbe close to the front of the line.
Meantime no harm in him going to 160 as he states he intends to do and settling into the weight with a fight against some other 160 lber before taking on the top guy. Its the smart thing to do - its what Ward did at 175 and its what Canelo is doing at 160.
There is no guarantee he carries to 160 yet. eg Abraham was a beast at 160, so much so that some had him favoured to win the super-6 based on his dominance at 160. Then look what happened ! Ditto Donaire owned 122 but was a kitten at 126 - doesn't always carry.
These guys are fighters for crying out loud.
Canelo is quality. Charlo is quality. Why would a boxing fan not be interested in such a fight instead of recycling the same old tomato cans masquerading as fighters.
Lemieux? The perennial loser. The human punching bag. You cant be serious. The sad reality is that , this is exactly the "fight" that could get made.
Ditto Chavez. Love him but he is as limited as they come.
Only time I would be interested in seeing Canelo in the ring with Chavez is as a sparring partner.
But then again I believe I am in the minority in wanting to see champions in legit fights instead of sparring sessions sold to the public as "real fights" AND making them PPV.
Charlo is not late to any party.Comment

Canelo is not limited. Canelo can fight. He is saavy in the ring.
He is a lot better than he is given credit for.
He just happens to be a cash cow that they want to milk for as long as they can get away with it.
Most managers / promoters would do the same thing. That is the nature of the beast when you have a cash cow!!!
But Canelo can fight.
Floyd is 49 -0 and in that record you can add Manny, Marquez, Mosley etc all future Hall of Famers.
So no shame in losing to Floyd. That should not detract from the fact that Canelo is very good and will be a handful for any fighter.Comment

Can't see much we disagree on, but factually Golden Boy have plans/options for Canelo stretching out over the next year which Charlo isn't a part of. Only because we wasn't on the list of possibilities when the plans for 2017 were drawn up.
But at some point in 2017 (hopefully) the road that GGG and Canelo are travelling down comes to an end, and that's when Charlo can be in the plans for what next.
Of course boxing being the car-crash that it is, any number of things can go wrong and all Charlo has to be doing is jumping up and down yelling 'me-me-me' when things go pear-shaped and he could suddenly find himself in a fight.Comment
