He didn't seem all that great to me in Rio. He had an incredibly easy path to bronze and then got dominated by Melikuziev in the semis

Schaefer signing some good talent. I thought this guy would end up at Golden Boy Promotions because of the Duarte connection.

But still Schaefer is signing the right guys to his new company.
The Southern California boxing scene is going to be interesting with all the talent their and now with the new kids on the block with Ringstar Promotions.

He did disappoint in the Olympics, but I think he has a pro style. He is one of my favorite amateurs, and I think Mexico has another fighter to get excited about.

The fighter may remember watching Oscar De La Hoya fight, but the decisionmakers with said fighter seem to understand that Richard Schaefer was the workhorse for the actual promotional company and are acting accordingly.

Are you ******? That was not a easy path.

And he will be better in pro, he has a lot of power and good timing, he needs work in the stamina and speed but he will be an action fighter in the scene.

He was really lucky in Rio, beat an unknown Iraqi boxer, got a bye against O'Reilly because he was caught with banned substances, then was in the lucky side of the decision against the Egyptian boxer, also should have gotten points deducted by spitting his mouthpiece, Melekuziev then beat the hell out of him.
He's a decent boxer and seems to be a nice guy, but don't be surprised if he doesn't make it.
